Sid Mallya's debut film to premiere and compete at Sundance Film Festival

Mumbai, Dec 7 (IBNS) Well it certainly seems to be falling all in place for very suave and edgy Mallya Jr. on his film front.

Sid, who is currently completing his degree at The Royal Central School of Drama in London, is over the moon about his debut film: Brahman Naman not just premiering but also competing in the World Cinema dramatic competition at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film is directed by Kolkata - based Q, quite the darling of the indie circuit having caused a stir with groundbreaking hits like Tasher Desh and Gandu. The film is produced by Steve Barron who’s other comedies include Dan Akroyd’s ‘Coneheads' and 'Mike Bassett - England Manager'.

The movie’s plot is centered on the quizzer’s scene in India in the early eighties and is a smart teen comedy in the vein of the British hit 'The In-betweeners' from 2011.

Apparently the film has Sid in the key role with 4 new actors being cast as pivotal roles alongside him. Shashank Arora of Titli fame plays the character of Naman. While Sid could not be contacted for a comment on the same, his spokesperson confirmed the development.

The Sundance Film Festival runs from Jan 21-31 and is considered one of the key outlets as part of the festival circuit.
