Mumbai/IBNS: Christopher Nolan's epic action fantasy The Odyssey has continued its impressive run at the Indian box office, crossing the Rs. 140 crore gross mark and emerging as one of the biggest Hollywood hits of the year in the country.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs. 143.78 crore gross and Rs. 120.43 crore net in India in just 11 days since its release, reflecting the growing appetite of Indian audiences for premium international cinema.

The film is currently playing across 2,006 screens nationwide, aided by strong occupancy in IMAX and premium large-format theatres.

Positive word-of-mouth, repeat viewership and Nolan's dedicated fan base have contributed to its sustained box office momentum.

The Odyssey, based on the ancient Greek epic attributed to Homer, features a star-studded ensemble cast and marks Nolan's latest directorial venture following the global success of Oppenheimer.

The film combines mythology, action and spectacle with the filmmaker's signature storytelling style.

Ahead of the film's release, Nolan visited Mumbai with members of the cast for a special premiere and promotional events, drawing massive crowds and generating significant buzz among Indian moviegoers.

Trade analysts believe the film is likely to continue its strong theatrical run in India, with the potential to set new benchmarks for Hollywood releases if it maintains its current pace at the box office.

The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic poem of the same name, chronicling the perilous journey of Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, as he struggles to return home after the Trojan War.

The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth and John Leguizamo.
