'Time to recalibrate': 12th Fail famed actor Vikrant Massey announces retirement from films at 37

Mumbai/IBNS: In an utter dismay for his fans, Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey on Monday announced retirement from films at the age of just 37.

Vikrant, who has delivered mesmerising performances with 12th Fail, Sector 36, The Sabarmati Report in recent times, announced his retirement on Instagram.

"The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and everyone of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it's time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor.

"So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted," the actor wrote in a note. (sic)

A former television actor, Vikrant made his film debut playing a supporting role in Lootera in 2013. He went on to similar smaller roles in Dil Dhadakne Do (2015) and Half Girlfriend (2017).

He featured alongside Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak, Taapsee Pannu in Haseen Dillruba and went on to garner the limelight playing the protagonist in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail.

Soon after the '12th Fail' success, Vikrant consolidated further with his performance in Sector 36 and the latest The Sabarmati Report.

His unreleased films include Yaar Jigri, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan.

Fans and co-actors react

On his decision to quit films, one of his fans wrote on social media, "Was not prepared for anything like this! This is as sudden as shocking!! But there must be some reasons behind this decision! Whatever it may be, the outcome is really Industry will miss a finest actor like you! We all will miss youhopefully you will change your decision soon! Will wait for your comebackdon't leave Acting pls."

Vikrant's co-actor from The Sabarmati Report, Raashii Khanna wrote, "What? No!"

Medha Shankar, who played Vikrant's love interest in the 12th Fail, wrote, "???? What?"

Dia Mirza reacted differently saying, "Breaks are best you’ll be even more amazing on the other side."
