BCCI announces team for Test series against South Africa, KL Rahul dropped

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced its squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa.

Batsman KL Rahul, who has been struggling with his form of late, was dropped by the selectors.

With Rahul's exit, Rohit Sharma is likely to open India's innings in the upcoming Test series. Rohit has been opening the innings for India in the limited overs cricket for several years now.

The two wicket-keepers chosen by the selectors are Rishabh Pant and Wriddhiman Saha.

Young batsman Shubman Gill has also found a place in the team along with Mayank Agarwal.

The three Tests against South Africa will be played at Visakhapatnam, Pune and Ranchi. The competition will begin on October 2.

India’s squad for 3 Tests: Virat Kohli (Captain), Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (Wicket-keeper), Wriddhiman Saha (Wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Shubman Gill.
