CSA banned from hosting global tournaments

Cape Town, Apr 26 (IBNS) Cricket South Africa (CSA) and three other sporting bodies were banned from hosting global tournaments by the country's sports minister for failing to comply with terms pertaining to the racial quota.

South Africa's sports minister Fikile Mbaluala on Monday took to Twitter to make his decisions public.

He said, "We have revoked ASA, CSA, Netball & SARU's right to host international tournaments; for failing to meet agreed transformation targets."

"I've resolved not to revoke punitive measures that may paralyze our federations financially and deny athletes to ability to compete," another tweet read.

However, Mbaluala said that the decision will be reviewed after he receives the transformation report for 2016-17 season.

"This decision will be reviewed when considering the results of the 2016/2017 Transformation Barometer," the sports minister said.

The present ban will not allow the Proteas to host a global tournament for more than a year.
