Islamabad, Dec 20 (IBNS): Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones was sent back to Dubai after he arrived in Pakistan's Islamabad city without valid travel documents on Sunday, media reports said.

Jones was recently appointed as the head coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Islamabad United.

Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) officials told Geo News that Jones was travelling from Melbourne to Islamabad.

Babar Hamid, a representative for PSL franchise Islamabad United, told Geo News:“Dean Jones was coming via Dubai. One document was missing. When he came here he realized he did not have the required letter.”

Hamid said the incident was caused due to 'a communication gap' which "can happen anywhere at any time".

Jones said he was not deported.

"I am arriving in Lahore tonight. I WAS NOT DEPORTED! Media... Please get the facts right guys," the former Australian cricketer tweeted.
