Guarat Lions beat Pune by 7 wickets

Rajkot, Apr 14 (IBNS): In a clash between two new teams, Suresh Raina's Gujarat Lions beat Rising Pune Supergiants by seven wickets in an IPL encounter here on Thursday.

Putting up 163 for five in their 20 overs, Pune bowlers could not restrict Gujarat as the the hosts reached 164 runs by losing three wickets with 12 balls to spare.

Australia-New Zealand pair of Aaron Finch (50) and Brendon McCullum (49) put up a strong show in the opening wicket stand as the duo posted 85 runs on the scoreboard.

Suresh Raina (24) and Dwayne Bravo (22*) contributed with their willows as Gujarat reached the winning runs quite easily.

Murugan Ashwin picked up two wickets for Pune.

Earlier, riding on Faf du Plessis' 69 runs innings, Pune posted 163 on the scoreboard.

He hit five boundaries and four sixes in the knock.

Kevin Pietersen smashed 37 runs with his willow.

Ravindra Jadeja and Pravin Tambe took two wickets for Gujarat.
