Hima Das clinches her fifth gold in 400m

Nove Mesto, Jul 21 (UNI) Indian sprinter Hima Das added another feather to her cap after she clinched her fifth gold medal in a month in the 400m race here on Saturday.

Das clocked 52.09 seconds to complete the race and registered a season-best timing but this was slower than her personal best of 50.79 seconds, which she managed at the Jakarta Asian Games.

Earlier, the 19-year-old, Dhing express clocked 23.25 seconds to clinch her fourth gold in Tabor Athletic Meet on Wednesday while she grabbed her third gold medal on July 13 at the Kladno Athletics Meet in Czech Republic with a time of 23.43 seconds.

In her first competitive 200m race of the year, she clocked 23.65 seconds on her way to gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on July 2.

She won her second 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet, also in Poland, on July 7 with a time of 23.97 seconds.

Meanwhile, in the men's event, MP Jabir also managed to grab a gold in the 400-metre race, clocking 49.66 seconds while Nirmal Noah Tom won silver in the 200m event with a timing of 46.05 seconds.

National record holder, Mohammad Anas settled for a third-place in the 200m with a timing of 20.95 seconds.
