Ranchi ODI: Team India pay tribute to Indian Armed Forces, to donate match fees

Ranchi, Mar 8 (UNI) Indian team donned camouflage caps to offer their tribute to the Pulwama terror attack martyrs. Before the start of third One-Day international, the Indian players were presented with the cap by former India captain and local boy MS Dhoni.

During the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli informed that team would be donating their match fee to the National Defence Fund.

Skipper Virat Kohli came at the toss wearing the special cap. After winning the toss and opting to field, Kohli said, "This is a special cap, it’s a tribute to the Armed forces."

The 31-year-old also added, "All the players in the team have decided to donate our match fees to the National Defence Fund and I as the captain of the team would urge everyone in the country to do the same and contribute to the National Defence Fund and help in the education and well being of the families and children of those who lost their lives in the attack."

"TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind," The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) wrote on its official twitter.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar distributed the cap among the commentators. The legendary cricketer gave the cap to Sanjay Manjrekar, Murali Karthik, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan and Harsha Bhogle.
