Sydney: Kuldeep takes five wickets, Australia battling hard to save Test match after follow-on

Sydney, Jan 6 (IBNS): Indian team is spending a golden session in Sydney this time as the Men in White further corned Australia on their soil to force them to follow-on Sunday.

It was the first time in 31 years that Australia were left in a situation where they were forced to follow on, giving an edge to the Indian team which is already leading the series 2-1.

In a rain-hit fourth day of the final match of the series, Australia, credit to five wickets taken by Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, were bowled out for 300 runs in their first innings. They had resumed the proceedings from 236-6.

Kuldeep Yadav (5-99) looked brilliant on the field as he wrapped up the Australian first innings nearly alone to give India a chance to register their third victory in the Test series in this tour.

Australia scored 6 runs for the loss of no wickets in their second innings at stumps.

They are still 316 runs short of India's mammoth first innings total of 622-7.

A draw will also help India to clinch the series here.

Only 25.2 overs were bowled on Sunday due to rains.

It will be India's first  Test series victory in Australia since they started touring the nation in 1947-48.
