Jammu and Kashmir: Hoteliers gear up to welcome tourists and locals engage in making snow sculptures as winter sets in Valley

Srinagar: Hoteliers in Jammu and Kashmir are gearing up to welcome tourists in the winter season as the Valley is slowly turning into a white beauty during the cold weathers.

The hoteliers have started making all preparations for the winter season tourist influx.

“We have been catering to domestic tourists in our hotel for four decades. Due to the drop in temperature, we have to make preparations. Although, there is hot water, heated by the boiler, available 24 hours for the tourists. But when the temperature drops further, more preparations have to be made such as electric blankets in the rooms and gas-powered heaters have to be provided in the rooms so that the tourists can stay in their rooms without any trouble,” Irshad, owner of New Sun Shine Hotel, told ANI.

Meanwhile, people in the Valley showed their skills of designing snow sculptures.

The youth and the children actively participated in the act.

The students showcased their talents by making ‘snowmen’ and models of other wild and domestic animals and birds. The school also appreciated the students’ work and also awarded prizes to the students for encouraging them, reports ANI.

Locals told ANI that both NGOs and administration should contribute to developing this art, and such competitions should be held across the valley.
