103-year-old dances with professional dance star Blake McGrath

Toronto, Oct 18 (IBNS): At 103 years old, Kitty Cohen danced with professional dance star Blake McGrath at the VIP Dance Events competition in Mississauga on Sunday, said reports.

“It was exciting to the point of distinction,” Cohen said, a little breathless, after the performance.

“It was better than I could have dreamed.”

Cohen had been looking out for a dance partner to put on a show and McGrath, a veteran of So You Think You Can Dance Canada answered her call.

With only 30 minutes of rehearsal time Cohen and McGrath were on the dancing floor for the show put on by VIP Dance Events at the International Centre in Mississauga and Cohen was not deterred at all.

“I didn’t know it was going to be him, but I said any nice partner that is available, please. And he was perfect,” Cohen said.

Cohen and McGrath found each other compatible.

“She’s incredible. We’re definitely staying partners,” McGrath said.

“Put me down as your next student,” Cohen replied with a laugh.

McGrath had danced with stars such as Beyoncé, Madonna and Britney Spears and had worked with award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels and is well-known from his work as a choreographer and judge on Canada’s version.

Cohen had formerly worked as a legal secretary and had been performing on stage for many years with musical and dance groups.

At the age of 101, Cohen was the oldest Canadian to throw a first pitch at a Blue Jays game.

Earlier this summer, Cohen had been running the bases on the Jays’ field with the team’s manager John Gibbons.
