5.6 earthquake hits Afghanistan

Kabul, Jan 13 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale jolted Afghanistan on Wednesday, officials said.

The epicentre of the quake was located 28 km south of Jarm area, USGS website said.

However, India Meteorological Department website put the magnitude of the earthquake, which hit the country at 1:34 IST, at 5.8 on the Richter Scale.

Calling it 'moderate' the IMD has put the epicentre of the quake at Latitude 36.6 degrees north and longitude 71.1 degrees east.

No immediate reports of casualty or death has been reported so far.
