Islamabad: The Afghanistan embassy in Islamabad on Friday urged the Pakistani government not to detain its refugees any further.

The embassy said the POR, ACC, and passport holders were among the Afghan citizens detained by the CTD-ISB and other Pakistani agencies.

" The ongoing apprehension of Afg refugees in ISB, Pindi, and adjacent areas persists. In relation to the matter, a delegation from the Afg Emb engaged in a detailed discussion with the security authorities of ISB. During today's meeting with police officials, it came to light that including POR, ACC, & passport holders, approx 250 Afg citizens have been detained by the CTD-ISB & several other agencies. Emb is actively working towards clarifying the legal status of the detained Afghans & expediting their release," the embassy tweeted.

"The Govt of I.R of Pak is urged to cease the arrest of Afg refugees & officially address its concerns, as it can adversely impact bilateral relations btw the two nations," read the tweet.

According to Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Afghan nationals are being arrested in Pakistan under the pretext of taking part in recent anti-Pakistan protests, reports Tolo News.

The deputy spokesman asked the government of Pakistan to stop the process of arresting Afghan immigrants in Pakistan and to allow them to live in the country as usual.
