Kabul, Feb 10 (IBNS) : At least three people were killed in an explosion in a cricket ground in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
Local Khaama Press said the  incident took place on Friday in the vicinity of Bati Kot district while a number of people were busy playing cricket in the area.

It quoted officials as saying  that three people playing cricket were killed while two spectators were wounded after the explosives planted in the ground went off.

Provincial governor Gulab Mangal condemned the incident in the strongest words that left two university students and a high school student dead.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in the East of the country but the anti-government armed militants including the Taliban and ISIS insurgents have been attempting during the recent years to expand their foothold in some remote districts of the province.

However, the Afghan forces are regularly conducting operations together with the US forces who are mainly carrying out airstrikes to root out the terrorists from this province.
