Afghanistan: Raids in Laghman province kill 12 terrorists

Kabul, May 11 (IBNS): Afghan army Commandos and the Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), Special Forces conducted operations in  eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan, killing at least 12 terrorists, media reports said on Friday.

"According to a statement released by the governor’s office in Laghman, the operation was conducted late on Wednesday night in the vicinity of Alingar district," reported Khaama Press.

A suspect was reportedly arrested during the operation.

The weapon depot was destroyed, reports said.

"The statement further added that the operation resulted into the killing of at least five militants, including two key militant figures that were sent to the area to inspect the insurgency activities of the militants," reported the Afghanistan based news agency.

"In the meantime, the Afghan army commandos conducted operations in Qasaba and Salingar areas of the district and as a result at least seven militants have been killed," the news agency reported quoting  the statement.

A commander of the militants identified as Mohibullah was reportedly killed during the operation.
