Australia: Woman, two children drown in flooded river

| | Apr 04, 2017, at 03:54 pm
Sydney, Apr 4 (IBNS): A woman and her two children drowned in a flooded river in New South Wales, after their car plunged into the water-body, reports said.

The bodies of the unidentified deceased were recovered on Tuesday.

However, an eight-year-old, also part of the same family, averted casualty, as she escaped the car before running to a house for help, the BBC reported.

Following Cyclone Debbie, which hit Australia a week ago, the local rivers have swollen as a result of torrential rainfall it received.

The three casualties added to the tally of three earlier deaths, owing to the cyclone.
