New York, Oct 4(Just Earth News): United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday announced the appointment of Hubert Price of the United States as Head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).

In a biographical note, the Secretary-General highlighted that Price brings to the new position more than 20 years of experience in UN peacekeeping operations, most recently as Director of Mission Support in the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) from 2010 until 2015, and later as Acting Assistant Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support until June 2016.

From 2003 to 2004, Price served as Chief Integrated Support Services in the UN Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET), followed by two years as Chief Administrative Officer in the UN Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI). He then served as Chief Mission Support in the UN Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) from 2006 until 2010, which included periods during which he simultaneously acted as interim Chief of Staff.

A retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Armed Forces, Price has been part of UN peacekeeping operations since 1994, serving in a variety of capacities in Mozambique, Angola and at the UN Logistics Base (UNLB) in Brindisi.
