Bangladesh: Body of missing Chinese national recovered

Dhaka: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard on Saturday recovered the body of a Chinese national from the mouth of Matarbari channel under Maheshkhali upazila on Thursday, media reports said on Monday.

The Chinese national went missing after a tug ship capsized in the river.

The deceased, Jiang Hong Chen, 45, was working at the Matarbari Coal power plant, reports Daily Asian Age.

His body was recovered from the channel adjacent to the Matarbari coal power plant around 12:30 pm yesterday.

Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Lt Commander Abdur Rahman told the newspaper that a tug ship sank at the mouth of the Sea Channel adjacent to the Matarbari Coal Power Plant last Thursday.

Jiang had been missing since then, he said. After a long rescue operation, his body was recovered by a coastguard team near the channel this afternoon, he added.
