Bangladesh: Police detain 15 suspected members of Hizb ut-Tahrir terror group

Dhaka/Chittagong/IBNS: Bangladesh police have detained 15 suspected members of banned terror outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir in Chittagong, media reports said on Saturday.

At a press briefing at the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) headquarters, Additional Commissioner Amena Begum was quoted as saying by Dhaka Tribune that police apprehended two members of the outfit in front of the city's Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque on Friday when they were distributing leaflets to devotees after jumma prayers.

Police later detained 13 others.

The outfit's Chittagong region chief also among those detained during the police conducted operation, media reports said.

Police also recovered Tk2.82 lakh in cash, leaflets, press statements, training manuals, two laptops, electronic devices and a motorcycle.
