Bomb scare at CNN's New York City office

| @indiablooms | Dec 07, 2018, at 07:32 pm

New York, Dec 7 (IBNS): Police have declared the site secure after the offices of TV news channel CNN here were evacuated following a phoned-in bomb threat on Thursday night.

"Around 10:35pm, a bomb threat was called into the Time Warner Center & the building was evacuated," the New York Police Department tweeted. They later corrected the time to 10.07pm.

All live programmes were stopped and the network went to recorded footage before resuming airing live from the street as the security personnel carried out a search of the premises, CNN said.

However, the police did not find anything that could pose a security threat.

"The NYPD has now given us the all clear, and employees have been permitted to return to the building," CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker said in an internal memo to staff. "The building is secure and safe for everyone to return in the morning."

"We appreciate the swift action by the local authorities, and the patience and professionalism of all the employees who were impacted."
