Dhaka/IBNS: A woman was killed in Bangladesh capital Dhaka after she was run over by a bus on Tuesday, media reports said.

The victim, Kaniz Fatema Ruma, 30, an employee at Quantum Blood Bank lab in Shantinagar, died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday, reported Dhaka Tribune.

“Ruma was on her way to her workplace from Mirpur’s Pallabi area by a Al Makkah Paribahan bus. When the bus came to near Shantinagar intersection, she fell down on the road while trying to get off hastily and the bus ran over her legs. Later, locals took her to DMCH in critical condition,” Ruma’s husband Shafiqul Islam told the newspaper.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bacchu Mia also confirmed the death and told the newspaper: “The victim died while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital at 1pm.”

An autopsy of the body will be performed.
