Drug peddler, robbers killed during 'gunfight' in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Aug 3 (IBNS):  One suspected drug peddler and three alleged robbers were killed in separate “gunfights” in Teknaf upazila of Bangladesh, media reports said on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Junayed, Mohammad Ayub, Mehedi and the suspected drug peddler Imran Mollah, Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station told The Daily Star newspaper.

Acting on a tip-off that a robber gang was planning to conduct a robbery, a team of police conducted a raid in Nurullah Ghona area of the upazila, the OC told the newspaper.

The alleged criminals started firing on the police after sensing their presence.
