Egypt security forces kill 12 terrorists in raids after Giza attack

Cairo, May 20 (Xinhua/UNI) Egyptian security forces killed 12 terrorists in raids in capital and Giza province on Monday, said the country's Interior Ministry in a statement.

"Egypt's national security sector was informed that a group of terrorists, belonging to Hasem movement that is composed of remnants of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, were preparing for a series of attack to cause chaos and disorder in the country," according to a statement published on the ministry's facebook.

To continue the police efforts in combating the terrorist Brotherhood group, the security forces in a proactive action have raided two apartments used by the terrorist for hiding and making explosive devices in Sherouk and October 6 cities, the statement added.

Ten automatic weapons, ammunitions, four explosive devices and electric components used for making bombs were found in the two apartments.

The security raid came one day after an explosion that hit a tourist bus and a private car in Giza, leaving 17 persons wounded.

Egypt has been fighting against terrorism since the army-ouster of the former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2013 in response to mass protests against his rule.

The attacks that killed hundreds of police and army forces were mostly based in Sinai Peninsula while the recent ones have crept to Cairo and other cities, killing civilians.
