Fighting leaves 10 dead in Western Afghanistan

Qala-e-Naw/Xinhua: Five Taliban militants, four Afghan security personnel and a civilian were been killed as fighting erupted in the western Badghis province on Tuesday, deputy to provincial police chief Shir Agha Alokozay said.

The clash, according to the official, flared up after a group of Taliban militants stormed a security post in Jawand district of the restive province on Tuesday morning, leaving five insurgents including two local commanders dead.

Four security personnel, including three police and one soldier, as well as a civilian were also killed in the fighting, the official said.

According to sources six insurgents were also wounded in the fighting.

The Taliban have not commented upon the incident.
