Historic dawn of a new Middle East: Donald Trump addresses Israeli Parliament

US President Donald Trump on Monday addressed Israeli Parliament when he termed the 'end of the war' in Gaza as a 'historic dawn of a new Middle East'.

The President is visiting Israel on a day when Hamas released all the remaining living Israeli hostages from its captivity.

Addressing the Parliament, Trump said: "This is not only the End of a war—it is the END of an age of terror and death, and the BEGINNING of the age of faith, hope, and of God... This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East."

"After two harrowing years in darkness and captivity, 20 courageous hostages are returning to the glorious embrace of their families... And after so many years of unceasing war and endless danger, today, the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises on a Holy Land that is finally at peace—a land and a region that will live, God willing, in peace for all eternity," he said.

With standing ovation, the Israeli Parliament welcomed the President with applause as he walked up the podium to address the lawmakers.

During his speech, some protesters tried to disrupt his address, who were removed from the Parliament.

"That was very efficient," Trump said as they were moved out of the room.

More than two years after the deadly October 7, 2023 attacks, Hamas on Monday released all remaining living hostages under a ceasefire agreement reached recently with Israel, officials confirmed.

After freeing seven hostages earlier in the day, Hamas released the remaining 13 later on Monday, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The hostages are now being transferred to Israeli forces in Gaza before being reunited with their families.

Trump will leave for Egypt to attend a high-level summit on Gaza’s future in Sharm el-Sheikh.

The summit, co-chaired by Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, is expected to bring together leaders from more than 20 countries to discuss Gaza’s post-war reconstruction and governance.
