Police arrested Jaskirat Sidhu (29) on Friday morning.

Sidhu is facing 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily injury.

He is expected to appear before the court in the coming week.

Sixteen people including Humboldt Broncos head coach, Darcy Haugan, were killed as a bus carrying the junior hockey team crashed with a truck in Saskatchewan highway on Apr 6.

The victims include players Adam Herold, Connor Lukan, Evan Thomas, Jacob Leicht, Jaxon Joseph, Logan Boulet, Logan Hunter, Logan Schatz, Stephen Wack, Parker Tobin, team personnel Brody Hinz, Darcy Haugan, Glen Doerksen, Mark Cross and Tyler Beiber.

The team was on its way to Game 5 of a semi-final against the Nipawin Hawks.

Following the crash, Sidhu was arrested. However, he was released later.

After the laying down of charges, RCMP Superintendent Derek Williams has been quoted by CTV News, "We have looked at every aspect of the collision including the speed of the vehicles, point of impact, position of the vehicles, impairment, road and weather conditions, and witness evidence."
