Kismayo attack: 26 killed as gunmen target hotel

Kismayo, July 13 (IBNS): Gunmen entered a hotel in Kismayo city of Somalia and killed at least 26 people, media reports saidon Saturday.

The deceased people included a prominent journalist.

A suicide bomber rammed a car containing explosives into the Asasey hotel in the port of Kismayo, and gunmen then stormed the building, reported BBC.

Journalist Hodan Naleyah and her husband are believed to be killed in the incident.

A local politician, three Kenyans, three Tanzanians, two Americans and and one Briton were also killed, authorities told BBC.

Meanwhile, Islamist group al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the incident.
