Honolulu, July 17 (IBNS): At least 23 people were injured when a flying lava hit a tour boat in Hawaii, media reports said on Tuesday.

Following the explosion,  rocks and debris flying through the air were spotted coming down through the roof of the tourist's vessel.

Hilo Medical Center told CNN that 13 passengers were treated at the hospital, and another 10 passengers with superficial injuries were treated on arrival at Wailoa Harbor.

The conditions of the injured people are said to be stable.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted in early May, sending a smoldering flow of lava into residential areas on the Big Island. Kilauea was still erupting lava as of Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey, reported CNN.

It was not known how many people were present in the boat when the mishap occurred.
