Yangon, Apr 21 (UNI): Myanmar's security forces have launched a counter-attack against the insurgent group, the Arakan Army (AA), in its regional military headquarters in Rakhine state, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services said.

Chasing the AA group on Saturday morning near Mrauk U township before dawn, the security forces claimed a dead body of the AA with a grenade, an improvised explosive device and ammunition, Xinhua reported.

The AA attacked the regional military headquarters as well as security post-2 in Baungdote village near Mrauk U township on Wednesday night, Myanmar's traditional New Year Day.

Government forces vowed to continue security operation to ensure the rule of law in the areas.

Meanwhile, a two-month dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed on five more townships in the state by local authorities since April 2 following a series of attacks on the government forces by insurgents which resulted in casualties and destruction of civilian houses.
