Pakistan denies reports of Taliban prisoners release

| | Apr 04, 2014, at 04:41 am
Islamabad, Apr 3 (IBNS): The Pakistan Prime Minister's office on Thursday dismissed reports that it has released prisoners belonging to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

"This is with reference to  news from an international news agency about release of Taliban prisoners. It is clarified that there has been no authorization given from the Prime Minister in this regard," the Pakistan Prime Minister's office said in a statement.

"Moreover, it is clarified that the release of some prisoners involved in petty crimes by the Political Administration has been wrongly connoted as release of taliban prisoner," it said.

"Prime Minister's Office strongly rebuts the news of international news agency and regards it as incorrect," read the statement.
