Pakistan: Imran Khan leaves for court, police conduct searches in his Zaman Park residence

| @indiablooms | Mar 18, 2023, at 10:28 pm

Pakistan Police on Saturday thoroughly combed the Zaman Park mansion of former PM Imran Khan in Lahore city for materials used to fight riot police, media reports said.

The police reportedly arrested  40 PTI supporters for allegedly resorting to violence and obstructing the law.

The police entered Khan's residence after he left for Islamabad to attend a court hearing in the Toshakhana case.

This week, the police and PTI supporters clashed close to Zaman Park residence when an attempt was made to arrest the Pakistani politician and former cricketer.

Both police and party workers were hurt in the clash.

However, a police operation was launched at Imran Khan's residence this morning to clear the area of 'security camps' established by the party, reports Geo News.

“Section 144 is imposed, you are kindly advised to disperse,” police was quoted as saying by Geo News in an announcement before barging into Imran Khan's residence.

Condemning the police action, Khan tweeted: "Meanwhile Punjab police have led an assault on my house in Zaman Park where Bushra Begum is alone. Under what law are they doing this? This is part of London Plan where commitments were made to bring absconder Nawaz Sharif to power as quid pro quo for agreeing to one appointment."
