In a press statement, the ministry that the 16-year-old victim is identified as Abdallah Louai Gheith, who died near Bethlehem city after being shot in the heart and lungs by Israeli army.

The ministry said that another Palestinian, 21 years old, was rushed to surgery after he was injured by a bullet in the abdomen.

According to local sources, Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint east of Bethlehem opened fire towards the Palestinians who were trying to access Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan for Muslims.

Israeli public radio said that Gheith was killed "while attempting to sneak" into East Jerusalem.
