Paris, Feb 4 (IBNS): The Louvre in French capital Paris city reopened on Saturday, a day after soldier shot and injured a machete-wielding attacker close to the museum on Friday.

"The Louvre in Paris re-opened on Saturday morning, 24 hours after a soldier patrolling the museum shot a machete-wielding attacker, believed to be an Egyptian who entered the country on a tourist visa a week ago,"france24.com reported.

Hundreds of visitors were present inside the Louvre museum when the incident took place.

Reacting to the incident, US President Donald Trump tweeted: "A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S."
