Sao Paulo, July 22 (IBNS): In a major development ahead of the Rio Olympics, which will be staged in Brazil from Aug 5, police have arrested 10 people who were suspected to be planing terrorist acts during the important sporting event of the year.

Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes was quoted as saying by CNN that the group was inspired by ISIS and mostly organized online.

However, he said no specific targets were mentioned but the Ministry is investigating the computers and mobile phones of the suspects.

The suspects are said to be all Brazilian nationals.

De Moraes  said the group was 'absolutely amateur'.

The Rio Olympics will be held from Aug 5 to 21.

Sportsmen from 206 nations will participate in the event.
