Mogadishu, Feb 4 (IBNS): At least 10 people were killed when a car bomb blast rocked a crowded shopping mall in Mogadishu city of Somalia on Monday.

The incident reportedly left 12 others hurt.

Capt Farah Osman, a Somali police officer at the scene, confirmed to CNN that the explosion tore through a Mogadishu mall in the capital's business district, Hamarweyne.

Security officials believe that the death toll might rise.

Ibrahim Jama, a witness, told the American news channel explosion rattled windows of several nearby business buildings.

Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the blast.

The Al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group had even taken responsibility for the three car bombings last November which had killed 52 people.
