South Korean PM meets top North Korean officials

Incheon, Oct 4 (IBNS) In a significant development, South Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won met a high-level North Korean delegation twice on Saturday, media reports said.

The meeting was held before the visiting North Korean officials returned  home after attending the closing ceremony of the Asian Games.

"Chung earlier had met with the North Koreans before the closing ceremony started. Both sides met again after the 16-day regional sports extravaganza ended in a formal ceremony, Seoul officials said. What they discussed in the impromptu meeting was unknown," South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported

"The North Korean delegation drew keen media attention after it arrived in South Korea by plane early in the day on a surprise trip that analysts said could lead to better ties between the divided Korean states," it reported.

According to reports, the North Korean delegation was led by Hwang Pyong-so, vice chairman of the National Defense Commission.
