US senate rejects gun control measures after Orlando shooting

| | Jun 21, 2016, at 08:16 pm
Washington, June 21 (IBNS) The US Senate has rejected proposals to restrict guns after last week's mass shooting in an Orlando nightclub, media reports said.

All of the four proposals-put forth by  Democrats and Republicans-to expand background checks on gun buyers and curb gun sales to those on terrorism watch lists were defeated in voting.

The terrible mass killing in an Orlando night club last week put pressure on politicians to come out with some measures against such deadly attacks which have almost become common in the US.

Those opposed to the bills in the senate were of the view that the  bills were too restrictive and trampled on the constitutional right to bear arms.
