Kabul: Deputy Prime Minister of Taliban government in Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, has claimed the insurgents had no plan to assassinate ousted Afghan President Ashraf Ghani when they took control over Kabul in mid-August last year.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Afghanistan’s state-run TV (RTA) as quoted by Khaama Press, Baradar said that a number of former officials and politicians still live in Kabul peacefully and no harm has been done to them.

Baradar added that the supreme leader-Mullah Hebtullah Akhundzada- has announced a general amnesty and that it is applicable to all including the former president.

Shortly after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan on Aug 15 after entering the capital Kabul, former President Ashraf Ghani escaped the nation.
