From college going youths to school going kids, everyone celebrated Saraswati Puja on Saturday( 24 Jan, 2015 ) and Sunday (25 Jan, 2015). The puja timing was from 10.45 am on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. Schools and households were decorated with lights and flowers. A Honda City car suddenly caught fire on Tuesday (Jan 13, 2015) night near gate No.4 of Jadavpur University campus. Both the youths on the car, one of whom was driving, fled the scene leaving the burning car. Two fire fighting engines came in quick response and doused the flame. No one was hurt. Kolkata, Dec 23 (IBNS): Union Transport Minister and BJP senior leader Nitin Gadkari was in Kolkata on Tuesday when he met state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nabanno in Howrah to discus expansion of various national highway projects while also taking part in an anti-corruption march in the city that began from College Square and ended at Esplanade point. The BJP state unit is organizing anti-corruption week from Dec 23 to 30. BJP state president Rahul Sinha and BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh took part in the rally while grand-daughter of poet Kaji Nazrul Islam, Sonali Kaji, also joined the BJP during the day. Nitin Gadkari gave her the flag of BJP.

The walk took place from Deshopriyo Prak to Lion Safari Park. Taliban militants attacked a Peshawar school on Dec 16 and killed 141 people including 132 students.
