Mumbai, Mar 2 (IBNS):  Son Chiriya, actor Sushant SIngh Rajput's first major release of the year, could not make an impressive start at the Box Office on the first day.

The movie released on Friday and earned Rs. 1 crore on the opening day.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted :"#SonChiriya opens to low numbers, since the screen count [720 screens]/shows are limited and also because it caters to a niche audience... Biz on Day 2 and 3 crucial... Fri ₹ 1.20 cr. India biz."

The movie also features Bhumi in the lead role.

The movie is directed by Abhishek Chaubey.

Sushant was last seen in Kedarnath.

It released on the same day with Kriti Sanon' Luka Chuppi.

A potential story line, a new pair and some talented actors were enough to give Luka Chuppi a strong start at the Box Office on Friday.

The movie earned Rs. 8.01 crores at the Box Office on the opening day.

"#LukaChuppi has superb Day 1... Springs a big, big surprise... Opens bigger than #Raazi [₹ 7.53 cr], #Stree [₹ 6.83 cr] and #BadhaaiHo [₹ 7.29 cr]... Strong word of mouth should ensure impressive growth on Day 2 and 3... Fri ₹ 8.01 cr. India biz," film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
