Hrithik stuns as Anand Kumar; Super 30 hits the right chord

Kolkata, July 11(UNI): 'Education is the road to heaven. Yeh Swarg kaise milega? Business karke,' says Pankaj Tripathi who essays the role of the education minister in Vikas Bahl's film 'Super 30' that is set for release tomorrow.

This pithy dialogue perhaps adequately sums up the current scenario of education in India.

In a first of sorts 'Super 30', based on the true story of mathematics teacher Anand Kumar who grooms underprivileged kids, was shown to select media in Kolkata yesterday.

Of the many releases in 2019, this biopic is creating a louder buzz as Hrithik Roshan will be seen on screen after almost two years. His last film was 'Kaabil'. It will also be interesting to see how the fresh pairing of Hrithik and Mrunal fares on the screen.

Hrithik stuns as Anand Kumar with his de-glam looks and nuanced performance, effectively catching the ethos of Bihar in his keen execution.

Television star Mrunal Thakur holds her place well though she scarcely has anything to do. Pankaj Tripathi steals the show with his stellar performance as education minister. He captures the screen in every frame and leaves all spellbound. Pankaj also injects the perfect dose of humour.

Amit Sadh plays a journalist who echoes the voice of media persons countrywide saying a person can't scream at the media.

After the bad patch of 'Shandaar', this film has demonstrated a solid rebound for director Vikas Bahl. Vikas, who came to limelight by helming 'Queen', is basically known to depict a story with sheer excellence.

Anay Goswami who captured films like 'Mom', 'Fitoor', 'Kai Po Che' and 'The Japanese Wife', this time also has done full justice to the film.

Amitabh Bhattacharya is significant with his lyrics and Ajay-Atul put a regional vibe in their music. 'Question Mark' has been sung by Hrithik himself, complementing the journey and acceleration of the 30 super brains. But the background music could have been less loud.

The dialogues remind one that the difference in the socio-political situation of 1996 and 2019 are more or less similar when Hrithik says, "Siksha par toh saabka adhikaar hota hai sir."

In another context Tripathi says, "Education is the road to heaven. Yeh swarg kaise milega? Business karke. Aur aaj ki date mein education se bahriya business kuchh nahi."

The film questions how much our society has evolved. When the country is facing the vernacular languages issue, 'Super 30' states, "Sabki English Hindi Hai". For Bihar, it's on a perfect note.
