Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is a brand ambassador of West Bengal, has now taken up the onus of helping the cyclone battered eastern state through his organisations-Kolkata Knight Riders and Meer Foundation.

Cyclone Amphan last week wreaked havoc in West Bangal leaving around 80 people killed and causing huge loss to properties and trees.

"@KKRiders  and #MeerFoundation have stepped forward to help the people of West Bengal overcome the crisis due to the #AmphanCyclone. With each relief measure, we hope to make a lasting difference to help the state and city get back on their feet. #PrayForWestBengal," Meer foundation tweeted.

As a part of their initiative, the companies have pledged to donate to the Chief Minister's fund and also plant around 5000 trees across Kolkata while maintaining social distancing norms.

They will also distribute ration and essential items to the needy people residing in and around Kolkata.

Shah Rukh Khan and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee share a very good rapport and the actor owns an IPL cricket team from Kolkata.
