Covid-19 hits Bollywood royalty as Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek test positive for contagion

Amitabh Bachchan has been shifted to Nanavati Hospital which is close to his residence in Mumbai's Juhu.

Earlier Big B himself had tweeted, "I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested !"

As per media reports, the superstar's health condition is stable and he has been kept under respiratory isolation.

Abhishek too informed his followers about his testing positive for the contagion on Twitter.

The junior Bachchan has also been shifted to hospital.

Amitabh Bachchan's wife Jaya Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have tested negative for the virus, news reports said.

Abhishek tweeted, "Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for Covid-19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you."

Amitabh Bachchan, whose last film 'Gulabo Sitabo' premiered last month on an OTT platform owing to Covid-19, was reportedly gearing up to shoot quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'.

Big B was among celebrities creating awareness about COVID-19 on television advising people to combat the disease by all precautionary measures.

Amid massive spikes every day, India till Saturday reported 849,823 Covid-19 positive cases with 22,687 deaths so far. At least 536,228 have recovered from the contagion.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher tweeted, "Respected @SrBachchan Yes !! You have overcome every difficulty in your life with your morale. Madhuri Dixit Nene tweeted, "Wishing you speedy recovery Amit ji. I hope you get well soon."

Riteish Deshmukh tweeted, "Get well soon sir @SrBachchan- praying for your good health & speedy recovery."

For Abhishek, he wrote, "Get well soon my brother -@juniorbachchan- praying for the family’s well being and good health- love you man."

Taapsee Pannu wrote on Twitter, "And you shall be back to health n happiness soon! Red heart champ !"

Boman Irani tweeted, "You’re a fighter Sir. Get well soon."

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan prayed for speedy recovered of both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. 

He tweeted, "My best wishes for a young, brilliant actor with a most charming smile ! Take good care of yourself dear @juniorbachchan & of your father Sh @SrBachchan ji too ! Am sure both of you will bounce back to perfect health soon. The Bachchans rule our hearts. Our prayers for you !"

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted, "Extremely saddened to hear the news of Shri #AmitabhBachchan Ji testing COVID Positive. Praying for his strength & speedy recovery. @SrBachchan please get well soon!"

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, "Wishing you a complete & speedy recovery @SrBachchan Sahib. Let this be one among the many fights you’ve fought & won, both real & reel."
