Chennai/IBNS: A popular Tamil television actor, Chitra, was found dead in a hotel outside Chennai on Wednesday.

The police suspect that the 29-year-old actor cum TV host died by committing suicide.

Nazrathpet police have registered a case and are inquiring into the matter. They suspect that the actor was encountering some financial problems, reports said.

Chitra got married recently and was staying with her husband at the hotel near Chennai.

She checked into the hotel on Tuesday late night after returning from a shoot.

A senior police officer told NDTV, "She had registered her marriage only recently. We suspect finance issues. We have not recovered any suicide note. The post-mortem is over."

Chitra was a part of an ongoing popular television serial called "Pandian Stores" on Vijay TV.
