Mirzapur 2 helped me a lot in my acting career: Amika Shail
Mumbai/IBNS: Singer-turned actress Amika Shail has recently shared how the Over-the-top (OTT) platform has helped her in her film career.
Shail, who is from Kolkata, went to Mumbai to become a playback singer.
However, "destiny" took her to a new space, acting.
Talking about her initial days of struggle, Shail shared, "I started my career as a singer. I had taken training in Indian classical music. Then I did a few reality shows. Then I started my Kolkata-Mumbai journey. After graduation, I shifted to Mumbai to become a playback singer. Then I started my struggle in singing."
"I got my first playback song in 2017 for the Wedding Anniversary movie. Then I made a lot of original and cover songs on my YouTube channel. Then I got a call for a TV show.
"I went for the audition but did not get selected. Then I groomed myself for auditions because I wanted to give acting a try. I started auditioning just like that. After six months of giving auditions, I got my first break on a daily soap," she added.
In the course of the interaction, Shail narrated how the team of Baalveer (Baalveer Returns) adjusted and helped her to work for Mirzapur 2 while she was working for the daily soap.
"Mirzapur 2 helped me a lot in my OTT career," she said and added, "OTT has also helped me a lot in my career."
Apart from Mirzapur 2, Shail starred in Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi which was released on Disney+ Hotstar during Covid-19 pandemic.
The actress, who has no role model in acting, says she watches any film which is acting oriented.
Late Sridevi's Mom was the recent film which she has watched.
