Ghazals will always survive for relating to human pains: Talat Aziz

Mumbai, Apr 30 (IBNS): In his two-hour session with the students of Whistling Woods International here on the culture and importance of ghazals, the soulful music genre's exponent Talat Aziz said human pain has been constant and so ghazal because of its expressions of inner pains will survive the onslaught of modern music always.

“Since 13 century Arabic and Urdu poets have been expressing their inner pains and comments in the form of various couplets till date and ghazal singers made them more popular with their heart rendering compositions and heart wrenching voices that of Galib, Mir Taki Mir and Jagjit Singh. Now in the 21st century sound and speed has changed but not the human pain,” he said.

During the session, Talat Aziz shared his life experiences and his love towards music in the industry. Audio-Visual clippings were shown to the students for better understanding of the exhilarating topic – Ghazals. Talat Aziz gave a very beautiful description of simplicity on singing,

“Ghazals are simple but singing with simplicity is not very easy,” he said.

Many interesting questions were asked by the students which was brilliantly answered by Talat Aziz. He explained minute details about ghazals and its tone. He also shared some interesting realities about Masters in Ghazals such as Galib- his ghazals based on love, philosophy, and revolutionary topics at those times. He sung one of his favorite ghazal, ‘Chalo ek baar phir ajnabee ban jaye hum dono’.

The maestro shared his in-depth knowledge about ghazals with variety of real life examples which earned him constant applause.

Talat Aziz with his wonderful approach towards students emphasized on the point that since a very ancient era ghazals is existed and collaborated with the world sharing various topics about love, hurt, trust, heart-break, topics about women, etc. He truly inspired students with his melodious and vibrant presence.
