Aamir Khan to forgo his fees for Laal Singh Chaddha after film tanks at BO: Report
Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Aamir Khan is learnt to completely forgo his fees for Laal Singh Chaddha after its failure at the box office, according to a report in Bollywood Hungama.
Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 Hollywood classic Forrest Gump.
It has been directed by Advait Chandan and collaboratively produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
The film was released on Aug 11, which was a festive weekend and yet could manage to earn only Rs. 90 crores worldwide while the film was made on a whopping budget of Rs. 180 crores.
The film opened to Rs. 11.70 crore and its five-day total (Rs 45.83 crore) was less than the opening day collection (Rs 50.75 crore) of Thugs Of Hindostan, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh had said.
As a result of the film's loss at the box office, it is being said that Aamir Khan has decided to waive his fees and take the responsibility for all the losses of the film.
"If Aamir Khan decided to charge his acting fees, Viacom 18 Studios would have entailed losses of nearly ₹ 100 crores. However, that loss is something that Aamir Khan has decided to absorb himself. Now, the producer will lose nominal money," Bollywood Hungama's source revealed.
In Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan shares the screen space with his 3 Idiots co-stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh. It also stars Naga Chaitanya.
