Indian Idol 13: Sharmila Tagore steals hearts again as she recreates her iconic 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani' moments with Aditya Narayan
The Indian audience is set to fall in love all over again with the Bollywood beauty of the yesteryears, Sharmila Tagore, with her appearance in the singing reality show Indian Idol 13 where they will see her recreating one of her most iconic on-screen moments from the 1969 hit film Aradhana.
Sharmila Tagore will be seen with another veteran actor Tanuja in the reality show's ‘leading ladies special episode' as per a new promo.
The promo video shows Sharmila Tagore enacting the scene as contestant Rishi Singh sang the film's hit song 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani Mere Sapno Ki Rani'.
'Mere Sapno Ki Rani' is a famous song from Aradhana sung by Kishore Kumar, featuring Rajesh Khanna and Sujit Kumar apart from Sharmila.
The song was filmed on the famous toy train in Darjeeling.
In the song, Sharmila travels in the train while Rajesh and Sujit's characters follow it around in a jeep.
As the hero (Rajesh Khanna) sings 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Ayegi Tu', he catches the heroine's (Sharmila's) attention, who keeps stealing glances at him while pretending to read 'When Eight Bells Toll' by Alistair MacLean.
In the clip, the judges of Indian Idol, Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya welcomed Sharmila Tagore and Tanuja.
As contestant Rishi Singh sang 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani', Sharmila used the same book that she did in the film and acted in the same way as she did decades ago when the song was shot, with Rishi and show's host Aditya Narayan filling in for Rajesh Khanna and Sujit.
Sharmila,77, who is loved by her fans for her grace and charm, garnered a lot of praise from the netizens.
Reacting to the video, one fan wrote, “Two evergreen beauty from Bengal.”
Another fan commented, “Wow..so good” (heart emoji). Another fan wrote, “you rock Rishi.” Many fans commented that Sharmila still looked as beautiful as in the original song. “Over 50 years have passed since the film but she looks as pretty and graceful as ever,”
Indian Idol is in its 13th season and airs on Sony entertainment television every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm.
