Veteran actor and popular Bollywood talk show host Tabassum passes away

Mumbai: Veteran actor Tabassum, well known for her roles as a child artist and Bollywood talk shows, passed away on Friday evening at the age of 78, media reported.

Tabassum’s son Hoshang Govil told Indian Express that she breathed her last in a hospital around 8.40 pm in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Her death has come as a shock to the family as she was doing well, he told the publication, adding that they had shot for their show just 10 days ago and were going to shoot again next week.

She started her career in 1947 as a child artist as Baby Tabassum.

As the host of the popular Bollywood talk show Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, from 1972 to 1993, she became a household name.

People waited to see her break into friendly conversations with stars and popular actors as they revealed interesting incidents of their life.

With the rise of online media, Tabassum launched her YouTube channel Tabassum Talkies where she shared some unheard and untold stories of iconic actors, directors, musicians, and more. The channel has nearly eight lakh subscribers.

The late actor was married to actor Arun Govil’s elder brother Vijay Govil.
